The Silvertones were formed when Barry and Ron left the Soundcasters. The band played once a week at the King’s Arms in Penryn, as well as playing all the regular venues in Cornwall.

After Barry left the band Rodney Johns came on board as vocalist. Every time her sang Please Release Me the girls would cry and think he was wonderful, which make Trevor decided that he should start singing!

The band also performed under the short lived name Treon Herod (Trev, Ron, Heather, Rod).

When Rodney left the band Johnny Hubbard came in to replace him and the band became The West Coast Sound.
