A punk/new wave band made up of students from
Cornwall College. The band were heavily involved in
the Student Union and helped booked bands at the
Winter Gardens, including Judas Priest and the
Climax Blues Band.
While only active for a few
months, they were a popular high energy draw, going
down especially well at the Willliam IV in Truro.
With two brilliant graphics designers in the band
their promotional material really made them stand
out from the crowd. One day they recieved a call out
of the blue from John Adams at The Wints to say The
Damned had cancelled and could they take their
place. Mike has memories of being spat at by the
audience, as a mark of appreciation! This well recieved gig got them thinking
about a possible future for the band.
This
band turned into the Andy Holmes Association in
1978, with the same personnel, which was a hybrid
funk band, and this group played around Truro and
Redruth. Their main rivals at the time were Mike
Harwood’s Cruiser. The Andy Holmes Association went
and played in Germany where it went well for a short
while.
Bill
was offered a job at BMW working in their art
department, and they considered relocated to London
but didn't and the band fizzled out. The band played
their own material and put on gigs that were always
well recieved, perhaps had they been around slighly
earlie and caught the first wave of punk then their
fortunes may have been quite different.
Bill
was later the bass player in austro-German band
Intimspray.
Andy became a
very succesful illustrator. |
