John Rowe has very kindly shared his recollections of working with The Shondells;

I just used to hang out with the Shondells in Newquay and they had a well-known roadie named Jimmy Rogers whose brother Laurie was a great disco dancer like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever and everyone would just stand and watch him.
They were from London too and somehow we all ended up in London and Jimmy gave up as a roadie and I just jumped at it. By this time the band was Page Five and we seemed to be around Shepherds Bush a lot and the band would be playing all over the place. I do remember some jealous boyfriend of a girl getting angry enough to have a go at Roger Daltry, just what I heard.
I think that they might have backed up The Small Faces too but I can't remember that much now except that we would often go around the clubs and see The Bonzo Dog Do Da Band, Manfred Mann, Diz Disley and go to Eel Pie Island and pubs to listen to blues bands.
It was a busy life in London and being a roadie and a clubber because I was with musicians and so different from working in hotels and taxi driving mind you driving the van around in the winter with no heater in those days was freezing and heavy loading and unloading the gear gets a bit tough.
I gave it up in 1966 and met up with Pete Berryman again in 1967 in Newquay. We shared a caravan and worked as labourers until Pete had enough and started playing at the Folk Cottage which I liked too and that's when he became a guitar teacher.
