Originally called the Red Caps, Sandy and the Beach Boys changed to another name after the US Red Caps became famous. They were called called "Sandy and the Beach Boys" because they rehearsed in a bungalow garden shed almost on the beach at Gwithian. They toured around the club circuit in Sheffield.

Tony Lee eventually joined the Staggerlees, Graham went to America and Chris sadly committed suicide a few years later.

Roger would also team up with Devon based musicians as Roger and Rockin' Rockardo's and Sandy and the Big Dole Band, who featured members of Devon band Vicarage Five.
