David Williams's family had a stake in the WTW cinema group, and in 1966 after leaving school he took over as manager of the Wadebridge Cinema where he had worked on and off since the age of 10. On a Sunday morning for two or three years he would hire out the cinema to Basil Tait.
The auditorium was a fair size and could hold around 500 people. In the past it was used for live gigs. These days the auditorium has been divided up and redesigned, but the entrance and facade of the building is unchanged.
The cinema was used a recording location by several bands including Rick & The Hayseeds, The Reaction and The Onyx. Bands would perform on stage with the recording consol in the projection room. Often vocals were recording in the toilet as it provided better acoustics!
