The Buccanears were the very first band to play the Old Barn Club. Contemporaries of The Layabouts they played the hits of the day as well as and instrumental number penned by Mike names after the band. They played all around Cornwall, including the Flamingo and Culdrose and supported Tom Jones. They also entered the 1963 Rock and Rhythm Contest. The band were driven around by Andrew 'Huggy' Newport.
