With members from Cubert and St Newlyn East, the band’s base was around the Newquay area. As well as playing the Blue Lagoon and Tall Trees they also played Double Stile, Trevelgue, St Merryn Bodmin and the many village halls such as Fraddon, St Breward, Blisland, etc. They would back a band called Kindness at the Blue Lagoon, they would later make the big time as Smokie.

The Breakers played the hits of the day, with a focus on harmony bands, such as the Beach Boys, while also playing rock hits such as Credence Clearwater Revival. They would enter the Top Groups beat contest in 1970, placing midway in the final rankings.
